2025:

Congratulations to Prof. Gowrish Basavarajappa, ECE Deptt as IIT Roorkee has licensed his advanced antenna technology to MTEKPRO technologies pvt. ltd. The innovation,“a system and method for gain enhancement in pyramidal horn antenna using band pass gain boosting surface (gbs)”, was developed by Prof. Gowrish Basavarajappa. This collaboration marks an important step in translating IIT Roorkee’s cutting-edge research into real-world applications.Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, in collaboration with IIITB COMET, International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore, and Mantiswave Networks Private Limited, have signed a Technology Transfer Agreement for the Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) Technology to be used in 6G networks. Congratulations to Prof. Ekant Sharma and his team.
• Mr. Suriya N, an M.Tech student under the guidance of Prof. Saravana Kumar , received Institute Gold Medal for securing the highest CGPA in the MTech program.
• Prof. Tanmoy was shortlisted in the list of top-5 faculty members for IITR's "Excellence in Teaching Award" 2025 in two categories: UG category (for classes with 80+ students) and UG category (for classes with 30+ students, taught by a young faculty member).
Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Dr.Ajay Yadav, Dr. Avirup Dasgupta, and Dr. Ajay Kumar from the ECE Department, IIT Roorkee, have been granted a Design Patent for their device titled "A Sensor-Based Device to Detect Harmful Gases" (Design No. 454118-001). The patent, issued by the Patent Office, Government of India, highlights their innovation in harmful gas detection technology.
Prof. Sparsh Mittal has received IIT Roorkee's "Excellence in Teaching Award" 2025 in the UG category (for classes with 80+ students).
• Prof Sparsh Mittal has received 2nd Ramesh Chandra Mittal Award for Excellence in Research from the Roorkee branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad for his work on the transliteration of Modi script to Devanagari script for Marathi language.
•Priyanshu Tyagi, a PhD student in ECE department under the guidance of Prof Sparsh Mittal, has received the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship 2025.
Prof Sparsh Mittal's team develops the world’s first AI model (MoScNet) to transliterate historic Modi script into Devanagari script for Marathi language.

C. Bhawna Rana, B.Tech (Electronics and Communication Engineering) – Prabha Nayyar Award for Excellence in Time Management of Rs. 50,000/-
• Mr. Vansh Saini (B.Tech-2025 Batch) received the Kailash Chand Goyal Merit Scholarship.
• Prof. Avirup Dasgupta served as a member of IEEE EDS Compact Modeling Technical Committee and IEEE EDS Publications and Products Standing Committee.
• Prof Sparsh is serving as a track chair for VLSID 2026 and TPC member of AIMLSystems 2025 and IEEE International Conference on Emerging Electronics (ICEE) 2025 conferences.

2024:

1. Aditya Singh Thakur (under the guidance of Prof. M. V. Kartikeyan and Prof. Meenakshi Rawat) won the First Prize in the student design contest at the MAPCON conference 2024.
2. Devashish Arora (under the guidance of Prof. Meenakshi Rawat) received the best paper award: “ Prof Sudarshan Tiwari Memorial Best Paper Award in Communication Track” in IEEE MAC2024 Conference, held at Dehradun, India
3. Ph.D. student S. Dhanunjay Reddy (under the guidance of Prof. Tharun Kumar Reddy) was awarded with the SERB International Travel grant to present the work at ICASSP 2024, Seoul, South Korea.
4. Prof. Meenakshi Rawat was conferred the Women Science Communicator Award.
5. Ph.D. students Abhishek Kumar and Prabhat Ranjan have received the SERB International Travel Grant
6. Mr. Shrey Agrawal (BTech-2024 Batch) received the Class of ’98 Tejwani Gold Medal for the Best B. Tech Project (Supervisor: Prof. Anshul Jaiswal) in Convocation-2024.
7. Mr. Gunjit Arora (PhD scholar under Prof. Anshul Jaiswal) has been selected for the Student Travel Grant to attend the IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems, to be held in Guwahati, India.
8. Prof. Avirup Dasgupta served as a member of IEEE UP Section Executive Committee and as the chair of IEEE UP Young Professionals Committee
9. Prof Sparsh served as the track chair in the iSES 2024 and VLSID 2025 conferences and as TPC member of HiPC 2024 and Supercomputing (SC) 2024 conferences.
10. A paper co-authored by Dr Sparsh has received the “Best Industry-Related Paper Award” at the International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR) 2024.
11. Prof. Sparsh Mittal is one of the recipients of 2024 Qualcomm Faculty Awards in India.
12. A paper co-authored by Dr Sparsh has won the best paper award at the COMSNETS India Internet Governance Workshop 2024.
13. A paper co-authored by Dr Sparsh has won the best student paper award at VLSID 2024.

2023:

1. Ms. Ankita Chauhan (PhD scholar under Prof. Anshul Jaiswal) has been selected for the prestigious SERB – UAlberta Fellowship program (Fall 2023 semester) to conduct research at the UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA, Canada.
2. Mr. Gunjit Arora (PhD scholar under Prof. Anshul Jaiswal) has been selected for IEEE ComSoc Conference Travel Grants to attend and present his paper at the IEEE International Conference on Communications (a flagship conference of IEEE ComSoc) to be held in Rome
3. Ms. Ragini Verma (PhD scholar under Prof. Anshul Jaiswal) has been selected for IEEE VTS Student Travel Award to present her paper at the IEEE 97th Vehicular Technology Conference [IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Flagship Conference], to be held in Florence, Italy
4. PhD Student, Ms. Neha Singh, has received the first prize in poster presentations in IndoML-2023, held in IIT Bombay.
5. A paper co-authored by Dr Sparsh has won the best paper award, honorable mention at AIMLSystems 2023.
6. Ankita Chauhan, a Ph.D. scholar under the guidance of Prof. Anshul Jaiswal, has been selected for the SERB–UAlberta Fellowship program (Fall 2023 semester) to conduct research at the University of Alberta, Canada.
7. Five PhD students (Abhishek Kumar, Srishti, Hari Shanker, Manoj Kumar, Jay Singh) have been selected for the PMRF Fellowship.
8. Chinmay Nagpal and his team emerged as National Winners in the E-Waste category of Trash to Treasure Hackathon.

2022:

1. Ph.D. student S. Dhanunjay Reddy and Team (Under the supervision of Prof. Tharun Kumar Reddy) received the first prize in the BIOMAG 2022 data analysis competition.
2. Prof. Meenakshi Rawat received the fellowship from iHUB DivyaSampark as the ‘Faculty Fellow’ from 2022-2023.
3. Prof. Meenakshi Rawat received the Institute Research Fellowship (IRF) from 2022-2025.
4. Shipra (under the guidance of Prof. Meenakshi Rawat) received the Best Idea Pitching Award at WAMS-2022 (Wireless, Antenna, and Microwave Symposium) held at NIT Rourkela, India.
5. Prof. Meenakshi Rawat served as Technical Program Co-chair for IEEE Microwave, Antenna, and Propagation Conference (MAPCON) and track chair for IEEE Wireless Antenna and Microwave Symposium (WAMS) 2022.
6. Six PhD students (Amrutha Subrahmannian, Ashutosh Bisht, Ayshika Kapoor, Nehete Hemkant, Suman, and Kumar Sheelvardhan) have been selected for the PMRF Fellowship (cycle 10).
7. Kaintura Aradhana and Smriti Singh have been selected for the PMRF Fellowship (cycle 9).

2021:

1. Prof. Avirup Dasgupta received the IEEE EDS Early Career Award
2. The first and only compact model for Nanosheet GAAFETs developed by Prof. Avirup Dasgupta is industry-standardized for use in all EDA tools and foundries.
